Shere is a beautiful little village. Its church has been the backdrop of a few films.
And of course there is a war memorial.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Signs (Small Town)

This weekly photo challenge is about ‘signs’. Rusper is a small town. It has a phone booth, a board for announcements, a sign post with indicators telling you how to get out of there to other small towns, grit, a high road sign, a bin and a small church with a memorial for victims of the First World War. The Great War as it is called here; I never can understand that phrase. The French call it the same, but they lost half of their male population in the first World War. That is rather ‘great’, I understand that. But how great was that war for the English? The Second World War was – overall – much bigger in quantities of victims. Maybe Great or Grand are decided from national perspectives?
