Weekly Photo Challenge: Rule of Thirds (Andalucia 4)

The weekly photo challenge is about ‘the rule of thirds’. When taking photos there are some guidelines to compose the photo. One of them is the rule of thirds based on the ‘golden ratio’. The frame is divided in 9 equal parts created by four lines: two horizontal and two vertical.  The subject that needs the ‘attention’ is placed on one of the four crosses in the frame. Playing with composition is an essential part of photography. It determines how the viewer is ‘told’ to look at the photo. Well. Do as you please I say! Here is a non planned rule of third photo. Most of the time looking through a viewer almost instantly leads to a composition. The object makes its own rules or demands to frame it a certain way. Hope you like the way this one presented itself. Then you know where to put the horizon too, as well as using the lines in the frame. A view from Andalusia or Andalucia in Spanish. A spectacular region of Spain with beautiful picturesque white villages.

Weekly Photo Challenger: Symmetry (Somewhere in South West Germany 2) Baden-Baden

This weekly photo challenge is about ‘symmetry’. Lines, balance, using it to create an image. Repetition is a way of using a similar shape in a photo, and if it is the same shape it is a form of symmetry. My allergy is a complete symmetric picture where  the horizon is the turning point to flip the photo over so to say. This is the front of a house  an old German ‘Kur Ort’ who’s name I forgot in the south-west of Germany near Karlsruhe. After all it was Baden-Baden, how could I forget?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Scale (Andalucia 3)

This weekly theme is ‘scale’. A view from Andalusia or Andalucia in Spanish. A spectacular region of Spain with beautiful picturesque white villages. Here is one from some where on the road. The scale of a human in these majestic mountains is so humbling. And yet, you are part of it!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Scale (Andalucia 2)

This weekly theme is ‘scale’. A view from the Puerta de las Palomas. In November 1994 me and a group of friends were doing a bicycling tour of Andalusia or Andalucia in Spanish. A spectacular region of Spain with beautiful picturesque white villages. With lots of nice climbs, called puertos. Being high on a mountain makes you realize how small you are if you look down, or if someone would look up to the top. But actually it feels quite big on that mountain, seeing what is out around and feeling connected to it.
