Picture of the Day: Karpathos III

As  I said earlier: lots of churches. This one is fitting the cliche format: blue, white, blue sky and a bit of green of a tree.

Picture of the Day: The Wedding Photographer

Naarden is a small town in Holland, where each two years a photography exhibition is organized. In galleries and outside in the town you can see lots of exhibitions of known and to be known photographers. This picture is taken in june 2005. A photographer tries to capture a bride and groom in his own way, while his assistant captures him on his mobile.

And this  was his reaction as he noticed himself  being an object too!

Picture of the Day: storytelling 2

Yesterday I posted some storytelling pictures for a collective shoot assignment organized by Scott Thomas. Today I publish a recent one,  shot in De Horsten at Wassenaar Holland in February 2009.

Picture of the Day: collective shoot 2, storytelling!

Scott Thomas organized a second task for a new collective shoot. This time the subject is ’storytelling’. By the way, if you want to participate in this fun thing, visit Scott’s blog to let him know!

Here are some pictures that may or may not tell stories. For sure I know why I took them, but I leave it to the viewer to come up with his or her story. I always hope that the picture is not that ‘rigid’ so there is room to see different things in it. Here are a few stories! I hope you enjoy them. Feedback is always welcome!

Picture of the Day: collective shoot – bulbfields

Holland is famous for lots of things; among them flowers. Each Spring near my village bulbs produce their flowers. Here is a small example on the edge of Oegstgeest, Sassenheim and Leiden.

Picture of the Day: Sea View

I love the combination of sunlight and the sea. Both offer opportunities  to outline silhouettes and shapes, textures and twinkles.  It is all there for the taking, it just needs to be framed. Here is one of the Atlantic Ocean, taken on Iniz Mor. A little island off the coast of Ireland.  For some a contemplating view.

Picture of the Day: Ireland Knocknarea

Ireland reminds me of Holland; in both countries the horizon is very present in the landscape. In Holland the horizon is always visible, low and straight. Thus giving a great view on the clouds and sky. In Ireland the horizon is more playful and ‘dented’ but the skies and clouds always play a major part in the ‘framing’ of the scenery. Especially when the sun does come in shining its rays.

Picture of the Day: Westport Ireland Candy Store

Just a streetscene in Westport Ireland. Local kids buying candy and other stuff from a local store. A social meeting place just in the street, on a corner.
