This picture I took in 1980 during a visit to London. It is an old Greek statue, ‘borrowed’ for a long time, as on display in the British Museum.

Scott Thomas organized a second task for a new collective shoot. This time the subject is ’storytelling’. By the way, if you want to participate in this fun thing, visit Scott’s blog to let him know!
Here are some pictures that may or may not tell stories. For sure I know why I took them, but I leave it to the viewer to come up with his or her story. I always hope that the picture is not that ‘rigid’ so there is room to see different things in it. Here are a few stories! I hope you enjoy them. Feedback is always welcome!

The picture of my new year wish is as usually late! But here it is. I wish you all a wonderful, creative and inspirational 2009 in good health!

Lesbos August 2008
When I started to take pictures I was soon drawn to black and white film. Not only it was cheaper (yes, I am a Dutchman), but I also could manage my own printing in my own darkroom. I remember the smell of chemicals, hanging over the tray with developer, watching the image come up! Sheer suspense! Those days are all gone. Now I use a digital SLR to shoot MB’s of pictures. Instead of a darkroom I use Lightroom. But each trip the ‘analog’ Nikon F90 comes along loaded with Kodak Tri X. A wonderful film. The next image is shot on this old dinosaur. Islands in the stream: Lesbos Greece.

The first official message in this Blog! Well, as the title suggests: a picture! This one is taken on Lesbos, a lovely island in Greece very near to Turkey. When you do have enough time on your hands, you can sit, stare, scratch some bodyparts and take in the lovely warmth while waiting for your coffee and ouzo to be served
