These pillars are some of the remains of the Acropolis of ancient Pergamon, an old Greek city in the west of present Turkey, the present Bergama. One of the most famous pieces of this old city – the altar of Zeus – was taken away after excavation. It ended up on display in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.
